The Audacity to Be Heard is a movement rooted in the belief that when voices are valued, amplified, and aligned, communities become stronger, more informed, and more empowered to shape their future.
What began as a desire to honor the legacy of Ida B. Wells has become a call to keep creating spaces where women are seen, heard, valued, and connected. This work is about more than one event. It is about showing up, sharing our voices, and carrying legacy forward together.
Our Story
What began as community organizing grew into a movement centered on voice, visibility, and collective action.
Long before Audacity To Be Heard became a movement, the work was already happening through community organizing, civic engagement, and spaces designed to bring women together.
Through Urban Technician’s Sister March, Protest to the Polls, and the revival of the Ida B. Wells Alpha Suffrage Club gathering, one thing became clear:
Women needed spaces where their voices could be heard, their leadership celebrated, and their stories carried forward.
Audacity To Be Heard was created to continue that work — not as a single event, but as an ongoing platform for conversation, connection, storytelling, and impact.
What started with honoring women has grown into building community around them.

My hope for Audacity To Be Heard is that there will never be an end to the stories of unapologetic Black women who inspire us.
No end to the sheroes walking among us who deserve to be honored and celebrated.
And no end to Black women learning how to use their voices to help change their communities for the better.
